Primary Science Education Platform

COVID-19 has interrupted face-to-face education and based on research, missing school for a prolonged period will likely have major impacts on student achievement. Teachers have struggled to implement practical science lessons during school closures and it is evidenced that students made little or no progress while learning from home. The primary science education platform will act as an open education resource for teachers, pupils and parents.

The platform will have different categories including: primary science activities, games, recommended apps and videos; and experiments. Each category will include numerous lessons that teachers can incorporate into their teaching or students can perform at home with their parents.

We also incorporated a teacher community forum into this platform, where teachers can share best practice, chat to each other and widen their European network. Teachers can gain access to this membership area by creating a profile page. Such forum promotes a creation of a vibrant and dynamic teacher community to further develop and share high quality digital content, to promote networking of institutions across EU, and to build digital education readiness.

The teaching resources will:

  • Support primary science teachers by providing them with fun, interesting and real life related activities in the form of lesson plans

  • Increase the level of achievement and interest in science

  • Ensure young people sustain their involvement in science education

  • Create community environments that promote and support science

  • Promote digital readiness, innovative tools and methods regarding distance teaching/learning.

The platform will allow stakeholders and prospects to access the teaching resources 24/7/365.
